SUPPORT THE DEAF COMMUNITY

How to help

Do you have a passion to help others? You can greatly impact the Deaf community in a number of ways. Financial support is one of the greatest needs we, as an organization, have. Effectively providing services does carry a financial burden with it. No donation is too small and EVERY bit of support is humbly appreciated and helps to make a real world impact in the Deaf community.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP

Interpreting Services

Interpreting is the largest day-to-day interval service we offer. Interpreting services are accomplished through a number of methods thanks to the recent advancements in technology. LEARN MORE

Education

Life skills training as an educational supplement is important for any culture. We offer training and educational classes for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to learn, practice, and improve life skills. LEARN MORE

Advocacy
Sometimes we all need some support and help getting resolution. Open Hands Deaf Services acts as an advocate for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing when additional support is needed. This can come in many different forms. When is an advocate needed? READ MORE

Children of Deaf Adults

A CODA (Child of Deaf Adult) may not be Deaf themselves, they are often caught in the middle of two cultures. Deaf culture and "hearing" culture have different social constructs and norms. This can create a number of challenges for children growing up in a Deaf home and hearing culture outside of the home. Special needs can arise from this truth. Learn how we are trying to help bridge this gap. CLICK HERE
